On
Saturday, September 17th, 2011, the Down Syndrome
Association of Houston (DSAH) will hold
“A Night in the French Quarter”
Gala and Auction at the First Base Club in Minute
Maid Park in downtown Houston. On behalf of the
Gala Committee and Board of Directors, we invite
you to support our Gala and Auction which benefits
the many Outreach Programs DSAH offers to members
and the Greater Houston Community.
The
Mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Houston
(DSAH) is to create awareness and acceptance of
children and adults with Down syndrome (DS) through
advocacy, socialization, education, and medical
outreach. We envision a world in which all people
with DS have the opportunity to enhance their
quality of life, realize their life aspirations,
and become accepted as a wonderfully normal part
of a very diverse community.
The 2011 Gala and Auction is a significant fundraising
event necessary for DSAH to accomplish this mission.
All funds raised from the 2011 Gala and Auction
will go towards the following Outreach Programs
of DSAH:
• Medical Outreach to Health Care Professionals
and Families-Provide accurate information about
DS, pre/post-natal diagnosis support, connect
to resources (including the National DS Adoption
Network), New Baby Baskets, and the Teddy Bear
Hospital Program.
• Educational Outreach-To Early Childhood
Intervention (ECI), School Districts, support
for the Adults’ Education for Life Program,
and conferences for members and the Greater Houston
Community.
• Community Groups-Social opportunities
closer to the homes of members.
• Diversity-African-American, Hispanic,
Asian, and multi-ethnic families.
• Advocacy-Local, state, and national participation.
• Family Members-DADS group, Sibling Club,
Saturday Respite, and Parent Socials.
• Media-Public Relations, Publicity, Newsletter,
Internet, and Social Media.
Today, I am asking you to join me in supporting
“A Night in the French Quarter” Gala
and Auction with your financial contribution.
As a leader in the Houston community, I urge you
to support this very worthy cause which directly
benefits thousands of people.
Please
accept this calendar showcasing children and adults
in the Houston area with Down syndrome. Thank
you again for your support of DSAH and a favor
of reply by August 1, 2011.
On
behalf of the DSAH Board of Directors, members,
and children and adults with Down syndrome, we
look forward to seeing you on September 17th,
2011.
Sincerely,
Ann
