The
Down Syndrome Clinic is designed to provide children
with an evaluation from a team of health care professionals
with a special interest in working with children who
have Down syndrome.
All
children will undergo a complete medical evaluation and
developmental assessment by a developmental pediatrician
from the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics. A
social worker from the Meyer Center will provide resources
and support for families. Providers from the Physical
and Occupational Therapy Departments of Texas Children's
Hospital will provide treatment recommendations for home
and school therapy. A psychologist from the Meyer Center
will conduct intellectual evaluations to monitor cognitive
profiles of each child. A nurse coordinator will be available
to facilitate referrals to other doctors and assure continuity.
