Thank you for your interest! Your volunteer contribution is key that helps us achieve our mission to provide a brighter future for those with Down syndrome. Volunteers are an integrated and valued part of who we are and what we do. The Down syndrome Association of Houston offers persons with Down syndrome the support to reach their fullest potential through social networking, education, and health education, while educating their family and professionals about Down syndrome. Volunteers are The Down Syndrome Association of Houston's driving force in the following ways:

Social Events – Volunteers help prepare, clean – up, and volunteers interact with persons with Down
Some of our Social Events:
-Parent's night out
-Movie Night
-Dances
-Buddy Walk
-Gathering of Friends celebration
-Gala
-Mommy's coffee
-Gymboree
-Soccer

Professional Events – We are always in need of volunteers for our Monthly Meeting.
Monthly meeting volunteers are primarily needed to facilitate childcare. Our parents cannot benefit from our meetings without your aid in playing and interacting with their children. Can you give three hours on a Saturday, once a month? How about six hours?

Volunteers are invited to be apart of our planning, developmental, and educational meetings. Volunteers can come for the morning English meeting and learn, and then watch children in the afternoon for the Spanish meeting!
Being bilingual is a plus because we have many Spanish-speaking only members.

Volunteers' priceless skills are in demand in the areas of:
Administrative help: organizing, phone calls, and database entry
Maintenance help: Fixing the odds and ends of our Resource Center so members and the community can fully access all of the resources here for them.
Come learn and excel with us!

Steps to becoming a DSAH Valuable Volunteer:
Download the volunteer application, fill the application out and either mail or fax it to us.
If you are a group that is volunteering, each individual in the group needs to fill out an application. Please list if you want all of the volunteer information to be sent to one person in the group, or to each person in the group, and we will make it happen for you!
Thank you again for your interest and we can't wait for you to become apart of our volunteer family!
